1490 Southern Blvd Bronx, New York

WQB Architecture assisted Manhattan Boutique Real Estate (MBRE) and SOBRO in the preparation of the design of a building to house homeless teenagers and low income families at 1490 Southern Blvd in the Bronx. The project includes development of all rooftop outdoor spaces to promote an active lifestyle and development of a “Transformation Academy”for youth training and counseling for residents and the surrounding community. The project is part of the NYC Housing Preservation and Developments program for MWBE developers.

Fendong CBD, Taiyuan Shanxi Province, China

Power China’s Real Estate Group, has joint Venture projects in major cities throughout China. Power China selected WQB Architecture PLLC and Saan Architectural Design to prepare a Master Plan for the new Fendong Central Business District located south of Taiyuan, Shanxi. Fendong will be the hub for a new subway servicing new municipal and provincial medical centers. The new CBD consists of a mixed use plan for 3 million square meters of construction. Criteria for the new plan, emphasizes providing open space, smart growth, a variety of transportation choices, diversity of housing choices and economic opportunity in a green environment.

St. Vincent’s Hospital St. Mary’s Clinic Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea


WQB Architecture is currently developing a Master Plan for PNG Land for development of 1,000,000 sf of housing and health facilities. The project includes an 80 bed full service hospital which will be operated by St.Vincent’s Hospital of Sydney, Australia.

The hospital will also include a separate medical office building which includes research facilities focused on Malaria and Diabetes and will be sponsored by the World Health Organization of the United Nations. The hospital will also be affiliated with St.Mary’s Health Center, a local clinic managed by PNG Land. WQB is also assisting in the redevelopment of St. Mary’s. The Master Plan will also include 250 apartments for hospital employees.

LOS SURES Brooklyn, New York

 

LOS SURES is a community based not‐for‐profit housing development corporation in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It was founded in 1973 by a priest, a school teacher, a legal service attorney and 3 VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) volunteers. One of the VISTAs, WQB founder William Brothers, became architect for the new company. Working with Bernard Rothzeid at RKTB, Mr. Brothers developed strategies for moderate renovation of “en‐rem” NYC HPD buildings and the conversion of those buildings to tenant owned cooperatives. LOS SURES was also active in converting demolition sites into parks, lunch programs, tenant education, and was successful in conversion of one NYC’s most dangerous, drug‐infested neighborhoods into a safe moderate income family community.

WQB Architecture worked at Wychoff Heights Hospital for over 14 years During this time the 14 years. During this time, the hospitalwascomposedofover12 buildings which dated back from 1898 to 1965 and covered several city blocks. WQB prepared a Master Plan for redevelopment of the facilities and how they could be reorganized into a new conjunctive facility. Over the years WQB implemented the Master Plan through a series of renovations which included new operating theatres, intensive care suites, dental surgery and clinic, ambulatory care facility, l b t i t ti t li i laboratories, outpatient clinics, endoscopy suites, pediatric care, nurses housing and a variety of other facilities. The work was culminated by a $250m new addition which was designed and built-in coordination with Perkins &WillArchitects.

21 Water Street – Sag Harbor New York, New York

 

During 2008 an international development group failed to complete the construction of 25 super luxury loft condominiums facing the Long Island Sound in Sag Harbor. Amalgamated Bank, an investor and lender, was forced into a foreclosure preceeding. During the preceeding, the building sustained substantial weather damage and deterioration. WQB Architecture was hired by Amalgamated to restructure the project, complete construction, cure code and construction deficiencies and work with Barry Brown Construction to remarket the condominiums. Construction and sales will restart in the Summer of 2012 and should be complete in Second Quarter 2013.

Hyatt Regency Cabarete Cabarete, Dominican Republic

Cabarete, located on the Atlantic Coast of the Dominican Republic, has been known for years as one of the top 3 windsurfing spots in the world. An international development team has purchased a mile of pristine beach called The Miracle Mile for construction of 400 condominiums, a shopping village, and a 300 key full service Hyatt Regency Resort. The resort will feature 260 rooms and suites and 40 timeshare condominiums as well as a 15,000sf banquet/conference center with full corporate services, a Hyatt Signature Spa, Camp Hyatt, and a full complement of sports facilities and restaurant venues. As the only full service facility in Cabarete, the Hyatt is expected to be the home of major sporting events, corporate meetings, weddings and family vacations for years to come.

Wychoff Heights Hospital Brooklyn, New York

The Church of the Nazarene Taconic Retreat & Conference Center Milan, NY

Camp Taconic is a 220 acre property in Milan, New York owned by The Church of the Nazarene and used by their constituent churches for religious retreats and summer camps. WQB is currently assisting them with preparation of a Master Plan and the design of new “Lodge” in order to upgrade the quality of their overnight accommodations. The lodge will feature 32 guestrooms and suites with living room type conference areas, huddle space and a fitness center.
